PARISH MINISTRY position for St. Rose Parish, 48 East Main Street, Girard, OH 44420
St. Rose Parish in Girard seeks a coordinator for youth ministry and faith formation.
The person selected should be eligible for diocesan certification, or
willing to continue their education to become certified. The position requires
building a Youth Ministry Program that begins with 7th and 8th grade students in
the Parish School, as well as the Parish Religious Education. The position also
includes assisting the pastor with Adult Faith Formation, Baptismal Preparation,
and the RCIA, and collaborating with the Director of Elementary Faith Formation
and the school principal in a team approach to ministry. The position will begin in
July 2023.

Interested persons not currently employed in a parish of the Diocese of Youngstown are asked to:
- Submit a letter of interest, resume, transcripts and references to the Diocesan Director of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry to initiate selection and to receive information regarding positions available.
- Set an appointment with the Diocesan Director of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry or the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for orientation to diocesan guidelines for certification and employment procedures.
- Send a letter of interest and resume directly to parishes and notify Barbara Walko of any application.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PARISH MINISTERS
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Parish Pastoral Associates, Directors of Youth Ministry, Directors of Young Adult Ministry Parish Directors of Religious Education, Directors of Catechesis and Evangelization
A Master’s Degree with one of the following variations:
- MA/MS in Theology, Catechetics, Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, or another related theological area, plus: Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following areas (if not represented in the MA): administration, supervision, catechetical methods, pastoral ministry, or youth ministry.
- MA/MS in Education or Education Administration, plus: Twenty-four (24) semester credits in Catechetics and Theology (Old and New Testament Scriptures, Liturgy, Sacraments, Systematics, Morality).
- MA/MS in unrelated field. Twenty-four (24) semester credits in Catechetics and Theology (Old and New Testament Scriptures, Liturgy, Sacraments, Systematics, Morality). Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following areas (if not represented in the MA): administration, supervision, catechetical methods, pastoral ministry, or youth ministry.
- A person with a Bachelor’s Degree who does not as yet meet this standard can be hired with a Temporary Certificate and a plan of study agreed upon by the parish staff person and the pastor.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Witness to the Gospel and the sacramental life of the Church through personal living faith.
- Sensitivity to others, that respects differences and nurtures good work relationships.
- Openness to new ideas and self-evaluation.
- Willingness to continue personal and professional growth.
- Sensitivity to the particular culture and make-up of the parish.
- Commitment to the implementation of the philosophy and policies of the Diocese of Youngstown.
- Compliance with the Diocese of Youngstown Child Protection Policy.
EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of three years of supervised catechetical or other pastoral experience.
- Minimum of one year of administration of catechetical, pastoral, or youth ministry programs.
- Understanding of and agreement with major Church documents applicable to the ministry position.
- Understanding of the nature of adult faith formation, comprehensive youth ministry, elementary catechetics, and other pastoral programs.
ADMINISTRATIVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to plan and coordinate a variety of programs.
- Ability to work with a team as well as to accomplish goals independently.
- Interpersonal skills for enablement and conflict management.
- Understanding of effective communications and public relations.
- Awareness of legal responsibilities and the ability to respond appropriately to legal concerns.
- Knowledge of financial budgeting and accountability.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators to set goals, develop policies, and design programs.
- Ability for development, design, supervision, and evaluation of pastoral processes.
