Music Director for St. Paul Parish, North Canton
​

St. Paul Parish in North Canton, Ohio (Stark County) is seeking a part time Music Director.  The Director would be responsible for coordinating, scheduling and working with the two organists/pianists and one guitar player/pianist who currently serve the parish at the five weekend Masses; leading music at sacramental celebrations; training, scheduling and rehearsing with cantors; working with the two contemporary ensembles; and directing the adult choir.  Applicants should be practicing Catholics with knowledge of Catholic Liturgy.  Flexibility and some experience in directing a choir are prerequisites.  Resumes may be sent to Fr. Guidelines for Application 

FOR DIOCESE OF YOUNGSTOWN MINISTRY POSITIONS
Listed above are the positions available in the Diocese of Youngstown for Ministry Year 2020-2021. Persons currently employed as a Parish Minister in the Diocese of Youngstown may send a cover letter and a resume directly to the pastor, but are asked to notify Barbara Walko, Diocesan Director of Religious Education, of any applications. Consultation services are also available from the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Cindee Case, for Youth and Young Adult Ministry positions.

​Interested persons not currently employed in a parish of the Diocese of Youngstown are asked to:
  • Submit a letter of interest, resume, transcripts and references to the Diocesan Director of Religious Education to initiate selection and to receive information regarding positions available.
  • Set an appointment with the Diocesan Director of Religious Education or the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for orientation to diocesan guidelines for certification and employment procedures.
  • Send a letter of interest and resume directly to parishes and notify Barbara Walko of any application.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PARISH MINISTERS
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Parish Pastoral Associates, Directors of Youth Ministry, Parish Directors of Religious Education
A Master’s Degree with one of the following variations:
  • MA/MS in theology, catechetics, youth ministry, pastoral ministry, religious studies, or another related theological area, plus: Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following areas (if not represented in the MA): administration, supervision, catechetical methods, pastoral ministry, or youth ministry.
  • MA/MS in Education or Education Administration, plus: Twenty-four (24) semester credits in catechetics and theology (Old and New Testament Scriptures, liturgy, sacraments, systematics, morality).
  • MA/MS in unrelated field. Twenty-four (24) semester credits in catechetics and theology (Old and New Testament Scriptures, liturgy, sacraments, systematics, morality). Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following areas (if not represented in the MA): administration, supervision, catechetical methods, pastoral ministry, or youth ministry.
  • A person with a Bachelor’s Degree who does not as yet meet this standard can be hired with a one year certificate and a plan of study agreed upon by the parish staff person and the pastor.

Parish Pastoral Ministers, Coordinators of Youth Ministry and Parish Coordinators of Religious Education
A Bachelor’s degree with one of the following variations:
  • BA in theology, catechetics, youth ministry, pastoral ministry, religious studies or another related theological area, plus: Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following area (if not represented in the BA): administration, catechetical methods, pastoral ministry, or youth ministry.

  • BA/BS in unrelated field, plus: Twenty-four (24) semester credits in catechetics and theology (Old and New Testament Scriptures, liturgy, sacraments, systematics, morality). Six (6) credits or 60 hours of diocesan sponsored in-service in the following areas (if not represented in the BA): administration, pastoral ministry, catechetical methods, or youth ministry.
  • A person working toward a Bachelor’s degree who does not yet meet this standard may be hired with a one year Certificate and a plan of study agreed upon by the parish staff person and the pastor.
