The Witness of Early Christian Women: Mothers of the Church.  Mike Aquilina.  Our Sunday Visitor, 2014.  The Witness of Early Christian Women: Mothers of the Church demonstrates the radical nature of Christianity's understanding of women and their roles, especially in a pagan society that viewed them as little more than property. The variety of women here is striking: poor widows, consecrated virgins, heroic martyrs, but also businesswomen, the wealthy, and an indomitable traveler on a world tour. Each chapter features a concise biography accompanied by writings from the early Church about the woman in question.

Dear Young People...Inspiration from Pope Francis for Everyone.  McGrath, Michael O'Neill. World Library Publications, 2015.
Brother Mickey McGrath presents a new book for young people (of all ages!) containing inspiration from Pope Francis in the form of quotations and tweets. Colorful and sometimes whimsical art helps illustrate Francis' vision for making the kingdom of God real in our world. Brother Mickey adds his own writings to include his encounters in daily life where he meets the marginalized, the sick, the poor, and those in desperate need of a better life.  This book will bring joy and inspiration to all ages!

An Unfinished Council: Vatican II, Pope Francis, and the Renewal of Catholicism.  Gaillardetz, Richard R.  Liturgical Press, 2015.
The Second Vatican Council has become an indispensable reference point for understanding Roman Catholicism today. Yet in spite of its impact, Vatican II was in many ways an unfinished council. The council bishops were able to establish key pillars in the construction of a new vision for the church of our time, but, for various reasons, they were not able to draw those pillars together into a coherent unified structure. This volume describes both the council's building project itself and the challenges facing the church today if we are to complete the project begun fifty years ago.

The Conclave

WHAT IS THE CONCLAVE?

Basically, the meeting of Cardinals to elect a Pope.
Conclave means "the room" (sometimes as "locked room"
or "with a key") in Latin as the meeting is done in secret,
locked in the Sistene Chapel of the Vatican
